Darren Beachley and Legends of the Potomac

reviews

Washington has been the home to many storied bands and musicians who have changed the direction of bluegrass. The Seldom Scene, The Country Gentlemen and The Bluegrass Cardinals would be included on any list of legendary bands and Mike Auldridge and Tom Gray would certainly be counted among the top musicians. And now they're joining with Darren Beachley (formerly with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver), Norman Wright (Bluegrass Cardinals and Country Gentlemen) and Mark Delaney (Country Gentlemen) to form Darren Beachley and Legends of the Potomac.

In their first release, Takeoff, the Legends update old favorites like the Louvin's "You'll Never Forget," Hugh Moffatt's "How Could I Love Her" and Wendy Thatcher's "Miss You Mississippi" and present new material "Other Side of Lonely" and "Love You Don't Know" from songwriters Paula Breedlove & Brad Davis, and "Jenny," from Paula Breedlove & Rhonda Gunn.

The result is music that's new and yet familiar. The music you've loved for years is all there with something extra -- Beachley's soaring tenor. The results is Takeoff.
